Decaf has had a huge rise in reputation in the last few years, yet, has remained an often overlooked part of speciality coffee collections. Well, rejoice! We love having an exceptional Decaf selection here at Podda & Wren.

After a long stint the driver's seat, Quetzal our previous offering is taking a small hiatus, leaving the door open for a new arrival!

This time around, we've hit it home with an offering from Brazil, using the sugarcane process pioneered by neighbours Colombia, to bring a Decaf with incredible sweetness and heavy chocolate top notes, that if you lined this up against it's caffeinated brethren, you'd never even know it was Decaffeinated. How good is that?

The Sugarcane Process is an often overlooked process in the market, however, is a particular favourite of ours down to it's lack of carbon footprint and chemical free qualities. Caffeine is removed using a mixture of sugarcane and water, enhancing sweetness while keeping the original characteristics - this is done by a mixture of steaming and submerging the green coffee in spring water, using a recycling system to reuse all the water in the process and caffeine extracted sent off to be used in other products.
