Our usual staple Colombian offering, Waylan, is taking a temporary back-seat and for that to happen, a Colombian has to not only knock it out of the park, it has to knock it out of the town.
Introducing Arturo Arango!
We're delighted to bring this single lot caturra offering to the table, cultivated by lead farmer Arturo Arango; we've managed to secure just 70kg of this ace. Arturo's lot is found just in the outskirts of the small city Barcelona, in the Quindio region, El Paraiso. This region is renowned for it's volanic ash soil, a rarity, giving unique minerals to the soil imparted upon the coffee cherries growth - the culmination is a complexity of flavour, out of this world.
Arturo picks all his cherries by hand following a strict ripeness criteria; followed by exposing them to a 30 hour underwater fermentation, washing and pulping process until achieving ideal moisture conditions within the parchment.
A very subtle complexity is present throughout the flavour notes - with stone fruits being prominent, hints of raisin and molasses. We reckon this is suitable for all brewing methods, but is a particular standout in Aeropress!
