A once again welcome return to Uganda.
We absolutely love to roast speciality coffee from Uganda, not only because of the high quality of the raw material, but also the 'local connection' we have with the origin, working with Agri Evolve once again (more on this below!).
This time around after a blind cupping against several of Martin's other imports this year; we've sourced a broader community lot from the Karambi community in the southern end of the Rwenzori Mountains National Park with farmers from this community bringing their 'Drugar' which stands for 'Dried Uganda Arabica' to the Nyabirongo Washing Station to process with Agri Evolve.
Karambi has very subtle notes and is recommended by filter brewing methods, with notes of caramel and lingering dried fruit, specifically more citrus based fruits of orange and mango.
Process: Natural
Location: Rwenzori Mountains National Park
Altitude: 1300 - 1600 MASL
Flavour Notes: Caramel, Orange and Mango
Roast Level: Medium
Varietal: SL14 / SL28 / Nyasaland
Agri Evolve is a social enterprise managed in the UK by Jonny, Beth and Martin Rowland (Martin is located less than 10 miles away from our roastery!). The aim of the project is educate farmers and new generation farmers, managing a green sustainable social project. You can read more about the work done at Agri Evolve and ACE 2030 here.
For every kilogram of Karambi we buy, 40p is donated automatically to local communities in the Rwenzori Mountains for their community fund to help with living standards and essential purchases.
