East Timor - Hatuhei
East Timor - Hatuhei
East Timor, A.K.A, Timor-Leste is a relatively unknown country worldwide, but one with an incredibly storied and complex history.
Timor-Leste, has been both colonised and annexed, by Portugal, and then Indonesia - but finally gained independence in 2002 and became the world's current second youngest nation state. Coffee was originally introduced to East TImor by the Portuguese and has slowly become one of the countries leading exports, with more focus on speciality coffee.
Speciality coffee in East Timor is naturally wild and organic, growing under a large population of trees, granting natural shade, a perfect condition - with more consistency in picking the coffee and sharing processing methods for coffee; communities are now starting to succeed and gain benefit from the export of coffee.
We've sourced Hatuhei from our friends at Karst Organics again; whom work closely and in tandem with Carlos and Simao Pedro de Deus to produce this superb offering. Karst have been increasing productivity, education and salary in the region since working out there since 2017.
We get notes of heavy dark chocolate and caramel, with a hint of apple, giving off a 'dulce de leche' style flavour profile. Perfect for any richer based brewing methods, such as Cafetiere or Stove Top (Moka).
